Columba G. Islas
June 9, 1930 - February 12, 2023

Columba Gomez was born on June 9, 1930 to Leon Gomez and Tomasa Gomez in Mexticacan, Jalisco, Mexico. She met and married Guadalupe Islas in January 1953. They were happily married until his untimely and premature death in 1981, leaving her widowed at the age of fifty. She and Guadalupe had eight children together.  She was a loving mother to those children, an amazing grandmother to fifteen grandchildren, and an inspiration to six great-grandchildren. She loved each and every one of them. She was a strong hard worker for her family by earning her living as a seamstress for more than forty-five years. Her priority was for her children to get a good education, and she pushed each of them to better themselves. Columba 's faith was her strength. She was the matriarch of the Islas and Gomez family where her home was always the hub for family and friends.  She will be deeply missed but will live on forever in our hearts. May she rest in peace in heaven with our Lord. Amen .
