Ignacio Avila Campa Obituary

Ignacio Avila Campa, 94, of Sawtelle, California, passed away on January 2, 2024, in San Pedro, California. He was a loving and perfect husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ignacio's life was devoted to his family, and he was the most loyal and loving person with a smile that would light up a room. He possessed high integrity and moral values, and his strength, courage, and generosity were unparalleled. Ignacio loved being outdoors, whether it was swimming, riding bicycles, gardening, or simply enjoying the view from his backyard. He was a man of many talents and could do anything he set his mind to, never allowing anything to hinder him. He was simply the BEST!

Ignacio is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Alicia Felix Campa, and their children: Teresa Campa Watson, Rosemary Campa, Jess Campa, and Irma Campa Matter. He was also a cherished grandfather to Brianna Correa, Brandon Bernasconi, Jonas Bernasconi, Anthony Campa, and Alexander Campa, and a loving great-grandfather to Richard and Lucas Correa. Ignacio is also survived by his son-in-laws, Michael Watson, Al Matter, and his grandson-in-law, Richard Correa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio Chavez Campa and Vicenta Avila Campa, as well as his siblings, Andrea Gastelum, Irene Zavala, Daniel Campa, Marcial Campa, and Jose Campa.

In his free time, Ignacio enjoyed gardening, carpentry, music, swimming, cycling, and, most importantly, spending time with his family.

A memorial service to celebrate Ignacio's life will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 10:00 am at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, located at 877 W. 7th St. San Pedro, CA 90731.

Ignacio will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, strength, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
