Obituary

Jesús Robles was born in Hermosillo Sonora, MX, on October 1, 1937. (Although, his actual year of birth is unknown. He was proud of the fact he was likely a year or two older). He was raised by his mother, Anita Robles and three sisters-Josefina, Carlota, and Socorro. He had one brother, Ruben. Years later he met his dad, Ramon León and his siblings Rosa and Sergio. The fact that he wasn't raised by his dad impacted him. He swore he would never abandon his children, which he never did, and that he would try to be the best father he could, which he was. Three words- TENACIOUS, WITTY, and STRONG- will be used to describe Jesús Robles.

Jesús officially immigrated to Southern California in 1975. School was something he was not fond of. He preferred working with his hands. He had to work from a young age to help his family, so he never attended school, nor learn to read and write. That did not stop him. At a young age, he used his streetsmarts and personality to sell tacos or shine shoes to help his family. Later in life, he worked two or three jobs to provide for his late wife, Elena, and their 4 kids. Together they worked hard to ensure the family never lacked necessities. He worked as a cook, a handyman, and finally as an iron caster for more than 20 years. No matter what work he did, he worked with TENACITY and was constantly set as the example for his coworkers. He never missed a day of work or arrived late. He instilled his excellent work ethic into his children and they in turn into theirs, and their children into theirs.

Anytime you had a talk with Jesús, he would make you laugh. He loved life. He was thankful for life. He never imagined he'd live this long. Whether he was at work, home, or at the hospital, he always found something funny and witty to say. His famous words when asked how he was feeling, "Para que me quejo si el mal ya está hecho" always enlisted a hearty laugh from his nurses or doctors. His WIT and positive outlook on life were unmatchable.

Jesús was forced into retirement in 2000 because of renal failure. He was on dialysis for seven years, received a kidney transplant for 10, and in 2017 was back on dialysis for another seven years. He also survived prostate cancer and melanoma. Because of this, he became a monthly monetary supporter of St. Jude's Cancer Research. Even in the days before his death, doctors and nurses described him as being a STRONG patient. He was indeed a warrior. He fought long and hard until the very end.

Jesús loved God, his family, laughing, joking, dancing, singing, Dodgers baseball, and food- especially a bowl of siete mares and pan dulce with his cafe con leche. He never turned down food. The only time he stopped eating was days before his death.

Jesús' life wasn't easy, but through all the hardships he learned lessons that made him the man he was. He in turn passed on those life lessons to his children. Those being to love God above all, persevere despite life's obstacles, to find joy in even the smallest things, and to love and respect others.

Jesús Robles was called home on March 15, 2024, at 1:41 pm. He is survived by his four children, Mauricio (Louise), Celina (Jesse), Josie (Christian), and Jesse (Chrissy), 16 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, two siblings, Rosa and Sergio, his dear friend and caregiver, Marina, and countless nieces, nephews, and friends. The loss of Jesús Robles has left a great void in the hearts of all who loved him, but his love, his TENACITY, his life lessons, his WIT, his STRENGTH, and the many shared memories will forever live in their hearts!
