IN LOVING MEMORY

Vicente Castillo passed away on August 28, 2025 in Montebello, California at 90 years of age. He was born on July 26, 1935 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.  He was the eldest and last surviving child of Manuel Castillo and Beatriz Lopez.

Vicente excelled in school and became a private accountant, working for Productos de Maiz, now Maizena and later in various Mexican breweries. Once in Los Angeles, Vicente resumed his accounting job working at a bottling company that imported soft drinks from Mexico.

Throughout his life, Vicente enjoyed music, listening and often singing along to ballads, rancheros and trios of Mexican legends like Javier Solis, Emilio Galvez, Vicente Fernandez, Los Panchos and others.  He enjoyed swimming, traveling, and spending time with his friends. He later took up riding his bicycle to and from security guard jobs at gas stations and hospitals.  Always impeccably dressed, his sharp suits were accompanied with stylish accessories and elegant hats.

He is survived by the love of his life Magdalena Castillo, their children Martha Patricia Castillo, Pedro Vicente Castillo, Cesar Alberto Castillo, Maria Elena Guerrero and Adriana Garcia, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As a devout Catholic, his family attended church every Sunday.  Vicente is now resting in the Kingdom of Heaven.

A viewing will be held at Felipe Bagues Mortuary on September 18, 2025 at 6 pm and a mass will be held on September 19, 2025 at 10 am at Dolores Mission Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Projecto Pastoral at www.proyectopastoral.org
